Sven Goedefroo
Architect
Graduated in 1991 from the Henry van de Velde Institute in Antwerp as an architect with distinction. During his studies, he participated in the Erasmus project at the 'Kongelige Danske Akademi Kobenhavn' in Copenhagen, Denmark.
At the start of his career, he won the international student architecture competition, the "UNESCO Award" in Montreal (Canada), and shortly after, the architectural competition for the revitalization of the town center of Sint-Baafs-Vijve. From 1992 to 1998, he was a sketching instructor at the Henry van de Velde Institute and interned at the architecture firm Storme-Van Ranst.
In 1994, he founded his own architecture firm, goedefroo+goedefroo architects, together with his brother Gunnar Goedefroo, with offices in Wielsbeke and Ghent. The firm realized prominent projects such as the Waregem Library, the Zulte Waregem football stadium, the Belgian pavilion for the Floriade in Venlo, and HangarK in Kortrijk.
In 2023, he began a new chapter with his son Arno Goedefroo under the name Goedefroo Architects. The two former offices were merged into one new office in the heart of Ghent. This new chapter reflects the ambition to tackle challenging architectural projects, both nationally and internationally.
