BENT Shoes
The hollowed-out minimal footprint of this 5-storey tower is a response to the overall occupation of the territory. The cut-out offers light, air and life to the interior space. The layers stack without hierarchy and are connected by the vertical garden. The tower tells of the need to consciously use available space, to put people at the centre, to protect them, to give nature back its place.

The modest tower on that site (highest point Waregem) is at the same time a sign of control, ambition, individuality. Individuality becomes community behind the facade shell. Nature is the binding agent. It assumes an architectural design in which energy requirements are kept as small as possible and external charges such as sunlight, cold or overheating, gaps and chinks are kept out.The near zero energy building (BEN) is equipped with BEO field, concrete core activation BKA, ventilation system D, lighting control etc. and also so indicates that it is possible to stand on its own feet with a minimum of material : structure = finish / each material has different functions.
The verticality is expressed by the facade envelope. The internal horizontality through the floor slabs.
