Villa Rozenkrans
Villa Rozenkrans on Leopold III Avenue in Kortrijk is located along the banks of the Leie and has been transformed, along with a new construction, into 10 luxury apartments.
The existing villa, built in 1947 in the Neo-Flemish Renaissance style, has maintained its front facade. However, glass balconies and two sleek, minimalist roof extensions have been added to the rear. In the garden, a modern four-story building has been erected, housing an additional 4 apartments.
The architectural contrast and the specific spatial arrangement allow both buildings to harmonize with each other. This connection is further emphasized by merging the lower level, or base, of both buildings, creating a cohesive foundation.
For both the renovation of the existing building and the new construction, sustainable and honest materials were selected.
In the new structure, a step further was taken with the integration of concrete core activation. This sustainable system regulates cooling in summer and heating in winter. Combined with excellent insulation, it ensures a comfortable and highly stable indoor climate.
